Wildfire smoke leads to flight cancellations at Kamloops Airport

Arrivals and departures affected on July 31, 2021.
Kamloops was under a blanket of thick smoke from area wildfires for most of July 2021.

Heavy smoke from wildfires is again playing havoc with flights in and out of Kamloops.

Various flights have been cancelled on Saturday, July 31, including both WestJet flights from Calgary (flight 3111, scheduled to land at 10:34 a.m. and flight 3241, scheduled to land at 11:05 p.m.) and Air Canada flight f8425 rom Calgary (scheduled to land at 11 a.m.).

In addition, Air Canada flight 8191 from Vancouver, which was scheduled to arrive at 10:20 a.m., made its way to Kamloops, but could not land due to the smoke and was turned back to Vancouver.

Departures have also been impacted, with Air Canada flight 8191 to Vancouver (scheduled to leave at 11 a.m.), Air Canada flight 8426 to Calgary (scheduled to leave at 11:55 a.m.) and WestJet flight 3314 to Calgary (scheduled to leave at 11:30 a.m.) all cancelled.
