A man is in custody following a stabbing in Aberdeen on Sunday night that may have been the result of a robbery attempt.
Kamloops RCMP Cpl. Jodi Shelkie said police were called to the 1800-block of Rogers Way at 10:50 p.m., where the stabbing occurred.
She said a group of people was standing outside when they were approached by a man they did not know. Shelkie said the man demanded money from the group before allegedly stabbing one of them and running away.
“Police flooded the area and set up a perimeter,” Shelkie said, “A short time later, an officer saw a man who fit the description of the suspect.”
While the man resisted arrest, he was eventually taken into custody.
Shelkie said the victim was taken to hospital with a non-life threatening injury.
The suspect is being held in custody, with Crown counsel to determine charges.
