RCMP Staff Sgt. Mat Van Laer said the other occupants of the house were able to get out safely before police arrived. The suspect was arrested in the home’s back yard.

“Clearly, these are very serious and dangerous types of events and we can’t afford to take any chances,” Van Laer said.

Police are not making public any additional information about the alleged incident or potential charges.
