Arsonist torches trio of cars at North Kamloops dealership

Firefighters managed to douse the flames at Country Auto Sales, but not before three vehicles were destroyed

Three vehicles that went up in flames at Country Auto Sales in North Kamloops appears to be the work of an arsonist.

The dealership’s owner, Gary Brunet, told KTW security camera footage from his business captured a young male pouring fuel from a jerry can on the vehicles, setting them ablaze and running away.

The fires were set before dawn on Friday.

The three vehicles were situated outside the dealership’s storefront.

Brunet said he didn’t recognize the man, noting the footage was too dark. He said he has no idea why someone would have done this to his business.

No one was injured, but Brunet said the three vehicles were destroyed.

RCMP Sgt. Sascha Fesenko confirmed the fire appears to be arson and police are investigating.

He said police wil examine the quality of the security footage to determine if they will need to issue any request for help from the public in finding the suspect.
