The city is reopening boat launches on Friday.

According to a city press release, the city will reopen boat launches at Pioneer Park, McArthur Island and Thompson Drive as water levels recede.

The boat launches have been closed since May 28, as a result of high water.

Boaters may begin to utilize the boat launches beginning Friday morning. However, the city is requesting “extreme caution” and travel only at idling speeds to prevent bank erosion caused by wake.

Residents on shore are also reminded that the banks remain unstable and to be careful, as erosion may have occurred beneath what is immediately visible.
