Photos of a poster warning of a sex offender, put up in various locations in Kamloops, are circulating on social media, but Mounties have not issued any warnings.
Only if a person is identified as a dangerous or high-risk offender would a public warning be issued, RCMP Cpl. Jodi Shelkie told KTW.
That warning is issued in conjunction with BC Corrections if an individual being released into a community is believed to be of extreme likelihood to reoffend, Shelkie said.
As for the posters, Shelkie said that would be a matter for civil court if they are considered libellous.
