Interior Health has reported a death at Westsyde Care Residences.
An outbreak was declared at the group home on Feb. 1, beginning with 12 cases.
As of Wednesday, Interior Health said cases there have increased to 26, with 14 residents and 12 staff affected.
Of those cases, 17 are still active.
The privately operated group home, at 2980 Westsyde Rd., has 21 publicly funded beds and houses adults with brain or spinal cord injuries, or cognitive, mental or physical health challenges.
The outbreak at Westsyde Care Residences is one of four in the city.
Other outbreaks in Kamloops include Royal Inland Hospital (105 cases, 14 active), Highridge Home and Singh House (seven cases, six active) and Brocklehurst Gemstone Care Center (25 cases, two active).
Westsyde Care Residences had zero infractions in its most recently reported inspection by Interior Health in 2019. It has no critical infractions on record.
The facility is listed by Interior Health as being owned by Vancouver-based J.S.T. Holdings Ltd.
