Crash closes Coquihalla Highway south of Kamloops

As of 3 p.m. on Nov.19, the southbound lanes are closed near Inks Lake.

Emergency crew are on scene and southbound traffic on the Coquihalla Highway is shut down southwest of Kamloops due to an accident on Thursday afternoon (Nov. 19).

A witness passing the scene, which occurred near Inks Lake, told KTW the situation appeared to be a single-vehicle accident.

BC Ambulance is at the scene, along with fire crews. The jaws of life was being utilized and a helicopter was on standby. Police cordoned off the southbound lanes, with traffic at a halt as of 3 p.m.

Long lines of traffic are developing. Drive BC had warned on Thursday of slippery sections on the highway.

In addition, it reported shoulder maintenance between Inks Lake Road and Meadow Creek Road.
