The eastbound lanes of Highway 1 leading out of Kamloops are closed and will remain so for some time. Eastbound traffic is being diverted onto Shuswap Road. One lane is open to westbound traffic between Holman Road and Grand Boulevard.

It has been lightly snowing in Kamloops all morning.

About an hour before the accident in Valleyview, there was a call for a crash on the same highway, farther west near Aberdeen Mall. A vehicle left the highway and rolled down an embankment. There has been no word on the extent of injuries suffered in that crash.
