As the White Rock lake wildfire southeast of Kamloops grows, the Thompson-Nicola Regional District has issued an evacuation order for 13 properties in the Westwold area.
Because of the potential danger to life and safety, the TNRD has issued an evacuation order for 13 properties:
• 7820 to 8640 Douglas Lake Rd and
any other properties within the boundary noted on the attached map.
The fire was discovered on July 13 and has grown to 3,00 hectares. In addition to the evacuation order, there are 213 properties under an evacuation alert.
The fire has led to multiple power outages in the area.
Emergency Support Services will only be provided if one’s primary residence is one of the properties under evacuation order.
There is currently no commercial lodging available in Kamloops and those impacted are asked to try to stay with family or friends.
Those unable to do so can report to the Salvation Army Building at 1480 Sutherland Ave. in Kelowna for group lodging.
Evacuees can also report to the McArthur Island Sport and Event Centre to register for additional services.
Self-registration is available online at https://ess.gov.bc.ca/.
