The Columbia-Shuswap Regional District has issued an evacuation order for the southeastern portion of Seymour Arm, a community on the northern tip of Shuswap Lake.
The order applies to the neighbourhood of Tranquility Bay and properties east of Seymour Arm Bay Road and Seymour River Road at Bughouse Bay including Tipman Road and Bradley Road and boat-in only properties
The rest of Seymour Arm remains on evacuation alert.
The Hunakwa Lake wildfire is burning south of the community and has already burned more than 1,100 hectares along Hunakwa Lake.
That fire is one of 275 active fires in the province, many of which have prompted evacuation alerts and orders to leave.
The CSRD is asking those evacuated to stay with family or friends, and if that is not possible, to report to the reception centre at the Lakeview Community Centre, 7703 Squilax-Anglemont Rd., Anglemont, to register with emergency support services.
Self-registration can also be done online at ess.gov.bc.ca.
Those in need of assistance with transport from the area can call 250-833-3350.
