Evacuation order issued for properties south of Merritt

The July Mountain fire, sparked by lightning on July 13, is burning near the Coquihalla Hghway.

Twenty-five properties near the Coquihalla Highway, south of Merritt, have had an evacuation alert upgraded to an evacuation order due to the July Mountain wildfire.

Because of the potential danger to life and safety, the Thompson-Nicola Regional District has issued an evacuation order for 25 properties addressed as 5644 to 6705 Juliet Dr. and any other properties located within the area noted on the attached map.

The fire at July Mountain was discovered on July 13 following a lightning strike. It has more than doubled in size from its estimated 185 hectares to 400 hectares.
