The City of Kamloops’ first public budget meeting — for the 2020 budget — will be held this week.
On Wednesday, Nov. 27, residents will have a chance to weigh in on the provisional budget and share ideas for how tax dollars should be spent.
The provisional budget will be released on Tuesday in advance of Wednesday's meeting, which will be held in the Sports Centre Lounge at the McArthur Island Sport and Event Centre. It will take place from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
The city has already approved an increase to sewer rates, which will see, on average, an extra $29 added to utility bills in 2020.
Budget talks will continue through the winter and residents will have another opportunity to weigh in on the planning, including supplemental items, in the new year.
The next public meeting will likely be in February and the final tax rate is expected to be set in early April.
