Kamloops Fire Rescue was called in for a rope rescue on Friday evening, but the ropes weren't required.
Fire crews assisted ambulance to rescue a cyclist who had fallen about 200 feet from the road, according to KFR Platoon Captain Wade Lindoff.
The incident took place near the intersection of Saddleback Drive and Stagecoach Drive around 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
"We used what we call the big wheel," Lindoff said, explaining the device attaches to a spine board and can be used to transport a patient over rough terrain.
KFR assisted ambulance crews, which were already on scene, in loading the patient, who was transported to hospital with unknown injuries.
