Interior Health hits 5,000-dose milestone at mobile immunization clinics

Overall, approximately 675,000 doses of vaccine have been administered in IH and more are on the way as drop-in hours expand and mobile immunization clinics travel across the Interior.

Interior Health’s mobile immunization clinics have administered more than 5,000 doses of a COVID-19 vaccine throughout the region since their launch last week.

The mobile immunization clinics are a partnership with the British Columbia Automobile Association and are travelling through the Interior region, making stops in over 40 communities along the way.

In the coming week, the IH mobile immunization clinics will visit Sorrento, Chase, Cache Creek, Clinton, 100 Mile House, Williams Lake, Grand Forks, Christina Lake, Winlaw, Kaslo, Nelson and Creston.

No advance appointments are necessary for the mobile clinics. People who live or work in each community can walk up, register and receive their first COVID-19 vaccine.

Residents who are not able to attend the mobile immunization clinics in their community can still receive a vaccine at other times by booking an appointment through the provincial system and visiting a nearby clinic.

Meanwhile, Interior Health’s COVID-19 vaccination campaign continues to accelerate throughout the region.

Approximately 675,000 doses of vaccines have now been administered and more are on the way as drop-in hours expand and mobile immunization clinics travel across the Interior.

“I want to thank the hundreds of thousands of people who have visited our immunization clinics,” said Interior Health president and CEO Susan Brown. “We appreciate your ongoing support as more people become eligible for second doses. We will keep clinics running as smoothly as possible to get everyone fully immunized. Interior Health is constantly reviewing and adjusting clinic capacity, including adding more appointments where needed.”

The Interior’s vaccine rollout is a coordinated effort between Interior Health and the First Nations Health Authority. To date, immunizers across the region have delivered 520,998 first doses and 154,848 second doses for a total of 675,846 doses of COVID-19 vaccine.

There are three ways to register for COVID-19 vaccine notifications:

• Online by visiting the provincial website right here.

• By phone at 1-833-838-2323,

• In person at a Service BC office, with the Kamloops office in the Kamloops Law Courts building, downtown at Columbia Street and Fourth Avenue.
