Have you ever wanted to better understand the city’s finance and budgeting process?
The City of Kamloops will be hosting a finance 101 session for the new city council and members of the public.
“Those are public meetings and they would be available to the public to observe,” Mayor Ken Christian said.
Council budget meetings will be held at 9 a.m. on Nov. 20 and Nov. 27 in council chambers at city hall. The meetings will also be streamed on the city’s live broadcast feed, which is archived online.
“The opportunity to go into the weeds, as it were, in terms of how budgets are formulated and prepared will be a good exercise for those of us that are there to adjudicate the budget, but also for the community of Kamloops to adjudicate how the budget is formulated,” Christian said.
The first public budget meeting will follow, to be held in the lounge at McArthur Island Sport and Event Centre on Wednesday, Nov. 28, at 7 p.m.
