Year-round transit will not be coming to Kamloops after a notice of motion by former councillor Donovan Cavers did not receive backing from council this week.
Cavers filed 11 notices of motions during his last council meeting in October, after he failed in his re-election bid in the Oct. 20 civic election.
This was the third notice of motion that has come before the new council, none of which have made changes at city hall. They will continue to appear on council agendas through October 2019.
Coun. Arjun Singh said during a recent debate he would no longer support Cavers’ motions, due to the fact the new council has yet to set its strategic plan and Cavers was not re-elected.
Nobody moved the year-round transit notice motion and it was not discussed by council.
Buses in Kamloops do not operate on some holidays. In 2018, service was not offered on New Year’s Day, Good Friday and Christmas Day, with other holidays throughout the year having adjusted schedules.
