Kamloops firefighters called to grassfire at Eaglepoint Golf Course

Initial reports indicated the fire was in the middle of the course

Kamloops Fire Rescue responded to a grassfire at the Eaglepoint Golf Course on Tuesday afternoon.

Ronald Nego, who works in the pro shop of the Barnhartvale course, confirmed firefighters were tending to the fire as of 4 p.m. and that about 40 people were removed from the course in the interim.

Initial reports indicated the fire was in the middle of the course.

Neto said he wasn’t sure if the fire was burning inside the course or not, but did see flames at one point from the pro shop.

“I believe they have it under control because I can see the smoke getting smaller and smaller,” Neto said.

He said he does not know what caused the fire.
