Quick work by Kamloops firefighters prevented a home on the highest-valued property in Kamloops from going up in flames.
Crews were called to the home at 1490 Westerdale Ct. in Aberdeen just after noon on Friday (Feb. 12) after receiving calls about smoke coming from the residence.
Crews managed to get into the attic area of the home and douse the flames, thereby preventing the fire from spreading.
Four Kamloops Fire Rescue apparatus were at the scene, with firefighters clearing the area by 3 p.m., according to the City of Kamloops. There were no injuries reported and the cause of the blaze is under investigation.
The home at 1490 Westerdale Ct. routinely tops BC Assessment’s list of highest-valued properties in Kamloops and did so again this year. Last month, when assessments were released, the property was at No. 1, with an assessed value of $2.175 million. The 14,153-square-foot house features five bedrooms and seven bathrooms.
