Kamloops Mounties investigating after fatal stabbing downtown

KTW has learned a man in his 40s was stabbed in the upper right chest and was rushed to Royal Inland Hospital, where he died.

Kamloops Mounties have cordoned off a portion of Columbia Street downtown following a reported fatal stabbing in the area.

As of 9:30 a.m. on Saturday (Sept. 12), Columbia Street between 13th Avenue and Battle Street is blocked as police officers search the area. Paramedics are also in the area.

KTW has learned a man, believed to be in his 40s, was stabbed in the upper right chest and was rushed to Royal Inland Hospital, where he died.

The stabbing apparently occurred at or near the Acadian Motor Inn in the 1300-block of Columbia Street and the victim ran across the street, calling for help.

It is not yet known if police have a suspect identified.
