The detachment’s serious crime unit worked on three homicide investigations — all believed to be gang- and/or drug-related— as well as to a number of additional high-profile incidents. Overall, the detachment’s officers responded to more than 42,000 calls for service in 2019.

“Daily, officers in our detachment deal with an ever-increasing number of calls for service that include mental-health issues, illicit drugs and, oftentimes, weapons,” Lecky said.
