Large police presence in Valleyview

The activity appears to be connected to a pursuit of a vehicle on Highway 1.

A police operation in Valleyview has seen a large number of Kamloops RCMP vehicles, heavily armed officers and police dogs in the area of Harold’s Restaurant.

A witness at the scene told KTW he saw police storm the parking lot of nearby 4 Seasons Motel at about noon and later saw what appeared to be a police pursuit of a vehicle along Highway 1. The driver of a Subaru appeared to fleeing from police, drifting corners as the vehicle went eastbound on the highway before making a U-turn at Highland Road and ending up near the restaurant.

As of 1 p.m., there continued to be a large police presence in the area, thought there has been no information yet forthcoming from Mounties.
