A heavy police presence around a home in the 1000-block of 12th Street on the North Shore on Sunday was in response to a report of a man with a gun.
Kamloops RCMP Sgt. Jeff Bingley told KTW the call turned out to be unsubstantiated.
Eyewitnesses Paul Dhaliwal and Lee-Anne Dhaliwal told KTW that, at around noon, they noticed at least 10 police vehicles and many officers, with guns drawn, converge on a house along the west end of 12th Street, which is one door down from the corner of Sherbrooke Avenue.
Bingley said that type of response is normal for a report of a person with a gun, noting it’s better to be safe than sorry.
Paul Dhaliwal described the home that drew RCMP attention as one police attend frequently.
Officers appeared to have left the area by about 1:30 p.m.
