Lightning sparks fires west of Kamloops

Lightning strikes have sparked four fires near Kamloops on Thursday afternoon.

The BC Wildfire Service is dealing with small wildfires west of the city, with blazes reported at Six Mile Hill near Tobiano (less than a hectare in size) and three fires across Kamloops Lake from Tobiano and Savona.

Those fires are at in Painted Hills Provincial Park (4.5 hectares in size), at Hardy Hill (less than a hectare in size) and at Eagle Hill (less than a hectare in size).

Those estimates are as of 5 p.m. on Thursday.

BC Wildfire Service ground and air crews are assessing the blazes.
