Male rescued from North Thompson River in Kamloops

Police responded to a call for help at 6:10 a.m. from paramedics after a male entered the river under the Halston Bridge and swam to a log boom

Kamloops Mounties rescued a male from the North Thompson River on Saturday morning.

Sgt. Jeff Bingley said police responded to a call for help at 6:10 a.m. from paramedics after a person entered the river under the Halston Bridge and swam to a log boom.

Bingley said police and firefighters were able to get the male into a Kamloops Fire Rescue boat. He was apprehended under the Mental Health Act and taken to Royal Inland Hospital for evaluation.

There were no injuries sustained by anybody during the incident.
