“The vehicle had reportedly been involved in a hit and run collision and was then abandoned in the 400 Block of Columbia Street,” Buliziuk said.

Shortly thereafter, Mounties received calls about a man in distress, smashing windows and damaging vehicles at the Travelodge.

The man then barricaded himself in a motel room where, after a short period of time officers — with the use of a police dog — arrested the suspect.

Charges will be determined by Crown counsel.
