Another traffic blitz in Kamloops has led to a flurry of tickets being handed out.
Kamloops RCMP issued 180 tickets during its Sept. 6 operation — 91 tickets for using an electronic device while driving and 71 tickets for failing to wear a seatbelt. Another 18 tickets were handed out for various other traffic infractions.
The blitz followed a similar operation three days earlier, on Sept. 3, when police in Kamloops handed out 42 tickets for using an electronic device while driving and 31 tickets for failing to wear a seatbelt.
“These numbers are high,” Cpl. Jodi Shelkie said. “Motorists need to put down their phone and buckle up. It’s not just a matter of having to pay a fine if you are caught offending; it could be a matter of life and death.”
