Pedestrian killed in Valleyview collision

A pedestrian is dead after being struck early Monday morning by a transport truck in Valleyview, police say.

The incident took place in the east-bound lanes of the Trans-Canada Highway between Tanager Drive and Grand Boulevard.

One person was pronounced deceased at the scene after being struck by a semi-tractor unit and another vehicle, accoridng to Kamloops Mounties.

East-bound traffic and one lane heading west were closed for about three hours, with east-bound vehicles re-routed through Tanager Drive. The roadway was closed to allow the BC Coroners Service and a traffic analyst to examine the scene.

In a news release, police said the pedestrian’s identity has not yet been determined.

Anyone with any information about the accident is encouraged to contact the Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000.
