The City of Kamloops issued a press release on Thursday, noting the new park will be open before the Ord Road park closes and, once construction is completed, the new park will remain open, leaving two airport-area dog parks for residents to use.

“We recognize how important physical activity is to people and their pets and we understand that the temporary closure of a dog park can have a significant impact on residents’ ability to stay active,” Trans Mountain director of communications Lizette Parsons Bell said in the release.

The city will also perform rock face mitigation work along Ord Road in late January in advance of construction, which is expected to begin in March.
