Police converge on residential area in North Kamloops

UPDATE: The RCMP's emergency response team (ERT) has cleared the scene. KTW observed only a couple police officers outside an address on Hilltop Avenue as of about 11 a.m. Wednesday morning. Police arrested a man and their investigation is ongoing. RCMP Const. Crystal Evelyn said no further information is being provided at this time to protect the integrity of the investigation.

There is a large police presence in North Kamloops Wednesday morning.

The Kamloops RCMP’s targeted enforcement unit (TEU) is at the scene with the assistance of the Southeast District Emergency Response Team (ERT) as of about 10:15 a.m. in the area of Wood Street and Hilltop Avenue as part of an investigation. 

The area is between the John Tod Community Centre on Wood Street and NorKam Healthcare Centre on Tranquille Road.

According to police there is no expected danger to the public and residents are being asked to avoid the area while RCMP are on scene.

Some traffic may be temporarily rerouted.

Police expect to release more information once cleared of the scene.
