There is a serious police incident unfolding in Scotch Creek, about 45 minutes east of Kamloops.

Reports indicate police have cruisers, a helicopter and drones in the area of Hiliam Road, where campers have reported hearing loud bangs, possible gunshots.

There were reports that a man was spotted in the area with a shotgun.

Residents in the area, which is close to Captain’s Village, have been told by police to stay inside and to lock their doors.

Hiliam Road remained closed as of 7:30 p.m. on Saturday as the police operation continued.
