Police presence in Sahali was in connection with arrest

Barriere man was wanted on a number of charges

The arrest of a wanted man from Barriere was the reason for a police presence on a residential street in Sahali on Sunday.

In a press release, Kamloops RCMP Staff Sgt. Mat Van Laer said police “took no chances” in going to the 300-block of Waddington Drive and arresting the man, who was wanted on a number of charges.

Police did not detail how the arrest was made, but according to Van Laer, it took place without incident.

Mounties have not identified the suspect nor specified the charges against him.

“This message is to reassure the public from the area that may have been distracted by police presence,” Van Laer said in the release.

The man is in custody.
