Police were at the Dakota Road residence since 7:45 a.m. Saturday morning, according to an RCMP news release issued Saturday at noon.

Neighbours were asked to stay indoors for their own safety and the public was asked to stay away.

Police say he has been taken to a medical facility for further assessment.

“The safety of the public, and the safety of our police officers, is our main priority. We are very thankful for the positive resolution of this situation,” said Kamloops RCMP Staff Sgt. Mathias Van Laer.
