According to Mounties, on Aug. 2 police were called to the Claybanks R.V. Park in the 1300-block of Voght Street for a report that an intoxicated man was touching children inappropriately.

An officer spoke with several children who confirmed the information and description of the man, provided by the complainant. The man, 24-year-old Skylar McLeod, was located nearby and arrested without incident.

McLeod has since been charged with one count of sexual interference, two counts of breaching a probation, two counts of assault and one count of failing to comply with a probation order not to be in contact with children.

He’s been held in custody, and is next expected to appear in court on Thursday in Kamloops.

The Merritt RCMP is asking anyone with information that has not yet spoken to police to call the Merritt detachment at 250-378-4262.
