Police seek to identify pepper-spray suspect

Kamloops Mounties are hoping surveillance footage will help track down a suspect in a New Year’s Day pepper-spraying incident at the Winners store in Southgate, where a man sprayed employees just after 5 p.m. after attempting to steal clothes.

On Wednesday, police released a photo from footage they received of the male suspect entering the store at 1180 Columbia St., wearing a grey bucket hat and medical mask.

The suspect is white, standing about five-foot-six, and has a tattoo on his face.

He was last seen wearing a red hoodie and black baggy jeans.

The man deployed what was believed to be bear spray at several employees in the store, when they confronted him about the theft, fleeing the store on foot into the Sahali area.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000.
