The call concerned a silver SUV that had been idling for about 45 minutes.

Evelyn said officers approached the vehicle and found the licence plate had been reported stolen. Inside, a woman was slumped over the steering wheel.

“While police were investigating, the woman woke up and allegedly rammed the police vehicle in front of her, then the one behind her,” Evelyn said, noting the driver sped off, damaging a fence on the way.

“Fortunately, neither officer was injured and no new damage was noted to their police vehicles,” Evelyn said.

Police have a suspect and the investigation is ongoing. Anyone who witnessed the event or has information related to it is asked to contact Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and reference file number 2021-23315.
