Power restored to Kamloops residents following windstorm

Electricity to residents south of Sun Peaks has also been restored.

BC Hydro has restored power to areas of Valleyview, Juniper Ridge, Dallas and Barnhartvale after a series of outages on Thursday morning (Nov. 5) impacted about 4,000 customers.

While the cause of four of the outages was due to strong winds blowing trees on to wires, four other blackouts were due to other causes not specified by BC Hydro, with the cause of one other outage under investigation as of 1:30 p.m. on Thursday.

There remains on outage in Kamloops on Thursday afternoon, in the 300-block of Rachel Drive and 5100-block of Dallas Drive in Dallas.

It is a planned outage due to work being done on equipment and is affecting 11 customers.
