Province reports 194 new cases of COVID-19, four further deaths

B.C. is reporting 194 new cases of COVID-19 and four further deaths due to the disease.

The number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 and the number of active cases continues to fall.

On Wednesday, B.C. reported 2,662 active cases with 246 in hospital and 70 of those patients requiring critical care in ICUs.

Of the new cases, 33 are in the Interior Health region. Elsewhere, there were 33 cases in Vancouver Coastal Health, 122 in Fraser Health, two in Island Health and four in Northern Health.

With four further deaths announced on Wednesday, B.C. has lost 1,707 people to COVID-19.

On the vaccine front, B.C. has now administered 3,365,286 doses, of which 208,145 are second doses. That figure means 68 per cent of all British Columbians age 12 and older have now received their first dose.
