Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for the South Thompson, with the possibility of freezing rain falling in the region overnight Friday (Nov. 22) and into Saturday.
The forecast is calling for flurries overnight as the mercury drops below zero. Environment Canada said the the warm air combined with near- or below-zero temperatures on the surface will result in a risk of freezing rain, with precipitation changing to rainshowers by Saturday afternoon as the temperature climbs above freezing.
Environment Canada is advising residents to be aware that highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and and slippery and to take extra caution when walking or driving in affected areas.
