Shelkie said police were told a man was seen trying the door handles of vehicles parked on the street and, at one point, got into a vehicle for a short time.

Shelkie said officers arrived and found the suspect in the area.

“He was arrested and found to be in possession of two backpacks, one of which was determined to have just been taken from a nearby vehicle,” Shelkie said.

“Kamloops RCMP are grateful to the citizen who called to report this suspicious activity. He was an excellent witness who gave us a good description of the suspect and a direction of travel.”
