Screams at Kamloops hotel draw police, lead to arrest

A man was arrested on May 3 for multiple offences, including assault, breach of conditions and forcible confinement.

There were screams about a stabbing, but in the end, Kamloops Mounties could find nobody who had been shanked and wound up arresting a man for multiple offences that did not include the use of a knife.

On Monday (May 3) at 10:15 a.m., Kamloops Mounties were called to the Double Tree by Hilton Hotel, downtown at 339 St. Paul St., for a report of a woman screaming for help inside a room.

Const. Crystal Evelyn said the woman was reportedly also referencing a stabbing of some kind.

“No specific room number was provided, resulting in officers having to search two floors to find the source of the scream,” Evelyn said. “No stabbing had occurred.”

A man was arrested for multiple offences, including assault, breach of conditions and forcible confinement. He remains in police custody and is expected to appear in court on Tuesday.
