The severe thunderstorm watch for Kamloops has been upgraded to a severe thunderstorm warning as of 6 p.m. on Wednesday (July 7).
Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing strong wind gusts and up to nickel-size hail and heavy downpours. The storm, as of 6 p.m. is about 13 kilometres south of Ashcroft, moving slowly south along Highway 1.
So far, it is raining and windy in Kamloops. Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are likely to produce or are producing one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds and torrential rainfall.
