Staffing shortage prompts IH to temporarily close Ashcroft Hospital emergency room

Residents in Ashcroft and Cache Creek looking for emergency medical care this weekend may need to trek to Kamloops.

Due to limited staffing availability, the emergency department at Ashcroft Hospital and Emergency Health Centre will close at 10 a.m. on Friday and reopen on 8 a.m. on Saturday.

The department is usually open overnight on weekends.

In a press release, Interior Health officials are urging those seeking emergency care during the affected hours to visit Royal Inland Hospital, Lillooet Hospital or Nicola Valley Hospital in Merritt.
