Will it be the Patriots or the Rams? Will Gladys Knight forget a word in the national anthem? Will Tom Brady finally call it quits? Will Donald Trump use Twitter to congratulate the winning team?
Whatever the wager, all eyes will be on the gridiron in Atlanta on Sunday as the New England Patriots and the Los Angeles Rams go head-to-head for Vince Lombardi’s coveted trophy.
Playnow.com, the B.C. Lottery Corporation’s website, is offering more than 300 Super Bowl-related bets, from who will win to who will run the most yards to who will be the first to catch a pass and everything in between.
PlayNow.com’s odds setters had the Rams opening as one-point favourites to win this year’s Super Bowl, but the line quickly shifted and current odds have the Patriots as a 2.5-point favourite.
B.C. bettors agree with that line, with 76 per cent of money wagered to this point on the Patriots to hoist Lombardi’s hardware. Patriots’ QB Tom Brady is the favourite to win Super Bowl MVP, just slightly ahead of Rams’ QB Jared Goff.
Along with all the game-related bets, PlayNow.com also has more than a dozen novelty bets including the possible presidential tweet. Others include: What song will Maroon 5 sing first? How many times will CBS show Gisele Bundchen during the game? Will Gladys Knight wear a Rams or Patriots jersey when she performs? Will rock legend Mick Jagger make an appearance during the halftime show?
Last year, players in B.C. posted more than 35,000 bets on PlayNow.com and Sports Action.
