The latest B.C. COVID-19 numbers: 2,835 cases, 2,491 recovered, 170 deaths

At Tuesday's COVID-19 briefing, B.C. health officials announced 13 new cases and one additional death due to the disease.

With yet another death in a B.C. care home announced on Tuesday, a total of 170 people have now died in the province since the pandemic took hold in January.

The province now has 174 active cases with 16 people in hospital and seven of those in critical care. The Interior Health region has two active cases.

By health region, there have been 960 cases in the Vancouver Coastal Health region, 1,480 in Fraser Health, 131 in Vancouver Island Health, 199 in Interior Health and 65 in Northern Health, for a total of 2,835 cases.

Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry had no additional outbreaks to announce on Tuesday, but provided an update on the number of people affected by health-care facility outbreaks, now totalling 372 residents and 227 staff, including three new cases on Tuesday.
