prohibition, noting charges under the Motor Vehicle Act are also being recommended.
Driver impairment is suspected in an accident in Southgate on Monday afternoon.
Police, firefighters and paramedics rushed to Cariboo Place, near Laval Crescent at 1 p.m. after a red Dodge van slid down an embankment after its driver collided with a parked car.
Kamloops RCMP Staff Sgt. Mathias Van Laer said the momentum from the collision caused
the van to slide down the embankment and come to rest in a precarious position 10 metres below the road.
Firefighters secured the van with a winch cable, then helped remove the driver, a 60-year-old man, who was treated for minor injuries by paramedics.
Van Laer said roadside sobriety tests led to the driver being issued a 24-hour roadside prohibition, noting charges under the Motor Vehicle Act are also being recommended.
"We are thankful nobody was seriously hurt in this incident,” Van Laer said. “It really was a good response from all emergency personnel in this case, with Kamloops Fire and BC Ambulance Services all assisting in keeping everyone and everything safe.”
