A wildfire burning south of Lytton, more than 100 kilometres southwest of Kamloops, has prompted an evacuation alert notice by the Thompson-Nicola Regional District.
George Road properties in Lytton with addresses of 1210, 1177, 1180, 1097, 1060 and 1040, as well as four addresses on the Trans Canada Highway, 874, 838, 768 and 752, have been put on evacuation alert.
An evacuation alert precedes an evacuation order, which will only be necessary if the wildfire continues to encroach on the listed properties.
The regional district says anyone under the alert should locate all family members and designate a meeting spot outside the evacuation area in preparation for an evacuation order.
Additionally, essential items should be packed, such as government-issued identification, medication and valuable documents.
The BC Wildfire Service listed the fire at 60 hectares and has designated it a fire of note. It is one of just two fires burning in the Kamloops Fire Centre.
