A woman slain near Boston Bar last month was from Belgium and had been hitchhiking when she was killed.
The body of 28-year-old Amelie Christelle Sakkalis was found north of the Fraser Canyon community on Aug. 22. Boston Bar is about 2.5 hours southwest of Kamloops.
A man was arrested at the scene in connection to the homicide and later released from police custody.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team, along with Hope RCMP, Chilliwack RCMP’s serious crime unit, Integrated Forensic Identification Services and the BC Coroners Service, continues to investigate the death.
Cpl. Frank Jang said Sakkalis is believed to have been hitchhiking from the Penticton area and heading to Vancouver on the day she was killed.
Police earlier said a white 1994 Chevrolet Astro van was seized near the crime scene and is believed to be associated to the murder. They are looking for anybody with information about the vehicle.
“IHIT would like to speak with anyone that provided Miss Sakkalis a ride between Penticton and Boston Bar on Aug. 22,” Jang said. “Amelie’s family has been notified of her murder and we urge anyone with information to come forward immediately to help provide answers.”
