Letter: Dress code controversy adds stress to NorKam teachers, students

Re: KTW’s article of Feb. 24 regarding a NorKam student being sent out of class due to the outfit she was wearing (‘Is this outfit inappropriate for a Kamloops classroom?’)

I've been watching with interest as this story unfolds.

If Karis Wilson is having her rights abused, couldn't male teachers be justified in wearing their underwear briefs over their pants? It would bring a whole new feel to events like assemblies, concerts and graduation.

Also, if Karis’ parents ever consider sending their daughter to one of the top private schools in the land, let them know she will not be wearing any lingerie to class. I wonder why?

I will applaud Karis for making us think about this issue, but I also feel sorry for the added stress and disruption this issue must be causing to the staff and students of NorKam secondary, something Karis and her father never seemed to take into consideration.
