For now, combustion-powered gasoline and diesel engines have no limits to distance or exploring Canada's back roads. Bringing extra fuel between a fill-up is always the option.

Electric vehicles, however, are limited to distance between the necessary charge-ups.

Installing electric vehicle charging stations in remote cottage areas and for long distance traveling into the back country could take generations to accomplish. Needless to say, this would present an off-the-scope cost to implement.

We remain a large country with many thousands of kilometres to be explored off the beaten track.

The concept of electric vehicles cannot get us there and back.
